The Story

"I think one of the first reasons why we started a crew was because one day, this guy rolled up on us asking us if we (Mike and Gerhardt) were going to race, etc., basically just "Shootin' the shit". Anyways, before he takes off he asks, "where you guys from ?" Being a Junior in High School, relatively new to the races, I replied "Rancho Bernardo". He then said, "no, I mean what crew you from".

Well, that got us thinking. When you reported to friends on the weekends "race" results, you always talked about "so-and-so" from "this" crew, "that dude" from "that" crew. If you weren't in a group, you were kind of "disassociated" from the street racing scene. That's where Nyx came in...

Having a racing crew at the street races is cool 'cause even if you aren't there to race, it's cool just to watch races and bullshit about cars with friends. Besides, it looks cool to roll in a group of car w/ friends. Back in the day CyBreed, Ground Zero, EVOL, Definition Of Speed, TDS (Team Del Sol) were the names that you remembered. This was like 2-3 years ago. If you saw a car from a "respected" crew, you'd pretty much assume that the car is fast.

Now crews like Thrust, Revolt, Brake Point, 935 Draggers, Side By Side, Fusion, and others have appeared. All the while Nyx has been around. We've been here for 3 years and my guess is that we'll be around for much longer because racing crews aren't always just about fast cars... it's usually about experience and friends. We're definately not rollin' deep, but we got quality members, and have for 3 years now.

Khanh joined the crew in late June '97. During his 1st visit with the Nyx crew, we changed his turn signals to meet street racing spec., removed pinstriping, and added clear corners to his Integra. Khanh was at the races during the infamous 'Mira Mesa Street Racing Raid.' A female also have joined the Nyx Racing family the summer after. Holli attened high school with most of us.

Nyx now participates in local and regional car shows, PIRA Drag Events, SCCA events, and the local street races.

Congratulations!

Ryan Berger was listed as the fastest Naturally Aspirated Saturn TwinCam in TMRm'zine with a quater mile time of 15.8sec. Check it out in the lastest issue of TMRm'zine.

Last 5 Updates Attention:

If anyone knows who stole:

  • Gerhardt's Prelude and abandoned it on the 5 North
  • Khanh's Double GTR Wing
  • Shane's Fog-lights, GTech, UR Pulley, keyed the sides, broke his stereo and cut his fuel line

let us know so we can kill them. gracias, Nyx
